There seems to be some confusion about the originating Battery that A/26 Battery RFA converted from in Jan 1917 in both Becke and Frederick.
Both have A/165 Battery RFA and A/166 Battery RFA as the battery that A/26 Battery in different places!

In the entry in Frederick Vol 2 for 26 Brigade RFA, it states that A/26 converted from A/165 in Jan 1917. Similarly, Becke's entry of 1 Infantry Division in Vol 1 states that A/26 converted from A/165 which was previously part of 33 Infantry Division. |

However, the plot thickens when we look at Frederick's list of RFA New Army Batteries in Vol 1, there it shows that A/166 became A/26 and not A/165! |

Similarly, when we examine 33 Infantry Division in Becke, we will find that 165 Brigade RFA did not exist in this Division, 166 Brigade RFA did and the entry expressly notes that A/166 became A/26 in Jan 1917. |

Finally, when we examine the history of 165 Brigade RFA in Becke, we will see that it was originally part of 32 Infantry Division before being transfered to 31 Infantry Division. There is no mention of any transfer of A/165 to A/26 in Jan 1917 |
