1 The main sources for this division are the Australian Official Histories and the Unit War Diaries.
2 The division war diary for Nov 1940 to Feb 1941 is almost illegible.
3 The Brigade War Diaries for this division have not been published yet so there may be considerable changes in this unit's data once they are available.
4 New Zealand Official History of 19 Infantry Battalion has 4 Brigade coming under command of 6 Australian Infantry Division on 12 April 1941 (not 13 April 1941 as in 6 Division War Diary).
5 Locations refer to Advance HQ of the Division
6 An "Operational HQ" remained at Gerania until 0800 17 April 1941 when it moved to Syn Thomai and rejoined Advance HQ
7 Rear HQ of Division was in Crete until 14 May 1941 and was not reunited with Advance HQ until 17 May 1941.
8 On 29 September 1941, HQ AIF (ME) took over command of all Corps Troops which had been attached to HQ 6 Australian Division on 9 June 1941. At the same time, all attached troops from 9 Australian Infantry Division were to be placed under command HQ 24 Australian Infantry Brigade.
9 Divisional Signal Regiment is considered to be part of the Divisional HQ
