1 In 1689, raised from the Cameronian Guard
2 Until 1751, it was known by the names of its colonels
3 In 1751, redesignated 26 Regiment of Foot
4 In 1786, redesignated 26 (The Cameronian) Regiment of Foot
5 Joslen Vol I has this battalion under 16 Infantry Brigade from 23/10/1944 to 08/05/1945 which seems to be impossible because other sources including Joslen Vol II have it under 116 Indian Infantry Brigade and Lucknow District during the period 15/10/1944 to 25/05/1945.
6 Battalion was based at Trimulgharry which was in Deccan District.
7 Battalion was at Ranchi in India following its return from Burma which was the location of the HQ of Eastern Army.
8 In July 1881, the Corps full title was originally The Cameronians (Scotch Rifles), this soon became The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) in November 1881
