# Note
In 1900, D Coy (Louth), E Coy (Great Grimsby), F Coy (Spilsby), H Coy (Alford), I Coy (Barton) and K Coy (Frodingham) were detached to from 3 Volunteer Battion The Lincolnshire Regiment
In 1900, Battalion was reorganised after the detachment of 3 Volunteer Battalion The Lincolnshire Regiment with A, B, C and D Coys (Lincoln), E and F Coys (Gainsborough) and G Coy (Horncastle)
In 1887, 1 Lincoln Light Horse Volunteers was disbanded having been attached to the Battalion and its predecessor 1 Admin Battalion Lincolnshire Rifle Volunteers since 1867
There are two rival theories of what happened in 1908!! 1. Westlake, whom I have followed here, has 1 Volunteer Battalion being split between the new 4 Battalion (formed from 2 Volunteer Battalion) and the new 5 Battalion (formed from 3 Volunteer Battalion). 2. Frederick has the alternative view that 1 Volunteer Battalion was used to form both 4 and 5 Battalions, while both 2 Volunteer Battalion and 3 Volunteer Battalion were broken up between the two new Battalions!
